Gratitude - What DO you have?

Sit and contemplate what you are grateful for daily.

Gratitude in the martial arts teaches us to focus on what you DO have or HAVE had rather than what you have not got. It is something I have always practiced in the form of a pre-meditation, in prayer and as a thought process..….I would call it, counting my blessings as a teenager, or at least that was what I was told it was called.

This process literally changed my life and so much around me.

Gratitude, is essentially a form of NLP, if you use the correct key word triggers....it creates feelings associated with a deep satisfaction with life…contentment. Gratitude can be coupled with affirmations.

Being grateful makes you yourself actually feel appreciated because you realise you have had so many chances in life…..so many wonderful opportunities. Gratefulness is a thought process that can translate into emotional content that will ultimately make you feel good inside. Focus on what you have. For example, if you cannot complete all 108 taichi movements, at least you can do an 8 form (8 movements strung together).

At a deeper level, whatever resides within attracts what is on the outside. I meet many people in my profession. Some are clients who feel sad, anxious, worried, angry, depressed. Your inner world is a reflection of your outer world and vice versa. It is analogous to a mirror. But it does not reflect things away, it copies them and thereafter causes them to attract towards you. When you think and create emotions that are of a more positive nature, the frequency of those emotions is much higher. Their vibrational frequency is higher. High vibrational energy includes, joy, peace, happiness, bliss and enlightenment. Putting in place gratitude rituals has changed the mindset of many clients who have come to meet me for counselling and CBT.

Remember, if you are sweet on the inside, sweet people, events and situations will inevitably be attracted your way. Gratitude can create a sweet core energy that will flow out of you and people will automatically interact with you differently. There is an old saying “smile and the world will smile back at you.” I like to live by this powerful saying.

I hope this post has been useful and I am grateful for your presence on my journey through life!
